Abstract
Muhammad Nur Ikhsan. 2026. The Relationship between the Ability to Memorize the Qur'an and the Learning Achievement of Seventh-Grade Students at SMPIT Prestasi Cendikia. Undergraduate Thesis. Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Indonesia.
This study aims to determine the relationship between the ability to memorize the Qur'an and the learning achievement of seventh-grade students at SMPIT Prestasi Cendikia. The background of this study is based on the importance of the ability to memorize the Qur'an as one of the school's flagship programs, which is assumed to contribute to students' learning achievement. The ability to memorize the Qur'an is not only related to spiritual development but also serves to improve memory, concentration, discipline, and responsibility, which are expected to support students' academic success.
This study employed a quantitative approach using a correlational research method. The population consisted of all seventh-grade students at SMPIT Prestasi Cendikia, totaling 58 students. Data were collected through a Qur'an memorization ability test and documentation of students' report card scores. The data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment (PPM) correlation technique, followed by the coefficient of determination and significance tests to determine the magnitude of the contribution and the significance of the relationship between the two variables.
The results of the study indicate that there is a significant relationship between the ability to memorize the Qur'an and students' learning achievement. The coefficient of determination shows that the ability to memorize the Qur'an contributes 10.43% to students' learning achievement, while the remaining 89.57% is influenced by other factors beyond the scope of this study. Therefore, the ability to memorize the Qur'an is one of the factors associated with students' learning achievement, although it is not the dominant factor determining students' academic performance.
