Abstract

The film Sorry We Missed You uses issues in the world of work to criticize the economic system in Britain. This film is set in a family that has been trapped in a debt economy due to the financial crisis in 2008. The purpose of this study is to find out how the film Sorry We Missed You represents the gig economy that exploits the working class. The method used in this study is a method with a narrative analysis approach. As a result of the gig economy disability, it causes alienation or alienation of workers, which can be reviewed based on the concept of Karl Marx's theory of alienation. The film shows various alienations, namely: workers alienation from the products (in the form of services) his produces, the production process (the process of delivering packages), his co-workers, and even himself.
