Abstract

ROSI ZAHRANI, NPM: 41182911210048, in her research entitled “THE RELATIONSHIP
ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS KNOWLEDGE AND THE RESPONSIBILITY CHARACTER
OF STUDENTS AT SMPN 2 CIBITUNG” under the Islamic Religious Education Study
Program, Islamic University 45 Bekasi.
This research shows that although students have acquired sufficient Islamic religious
knowledge through Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in schools, there remains a gap between
this knowledge and the responsible attitudes they demonstrate in their daily lives. The religious
values taught are not yet fully reflected in students' behavior and actions. Therefore, this study
aims to comprehensively and based on concrete data examine the role of Islamic religious
knowledge in shaping students' responsible character.
This research was conducted using a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The
study population was 40 students, from which a sample of 36 students was drawn. Data were
collected by directly distributing tests and questionnaires on paper, then analyzed using SPSS
version 27.
The findings of the normality test revealed that the data were normally distributed, with a
significance score of 0.200 > 0.05. The homogeneity test also demonstrated that the data were
homogeneous, with a significance score of 0.076 > 0.05. The Pearson correlation test yielded
an r value of 0.645, indicating a positive and significant relationship between Islamic religious
knowledge and the character of responsibility. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.416
indicates that Islamic religious knowledge contributed 41.6% to the formation of the character
of responsibility, with the remaining 58.4% being influenced by other factors. The significance
value of this relationship is 0.525 or 52.5%.Thus, the research hypothesis is accepted,
confirming that Islamic religious knowledge has a significant influence on the responsibility
character of students at SMPN 2 Cibitung.
