Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis tindak tutur ilokusi yang terdapat dalam lirik lagu pada album Man’s Best Friend karya Sabrina Carpenter dan menjelaskan bagaimana tindak tutur ekspresif serta direktif berfungsi sebagai strategi penegasan diri (assertiveness). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dianalisis menggunakan teori tindak tutur ilokusi dari John R. Searle serta kerangka kerja penegasan diri dari Yoshinaga dan Cooper. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam dua belas lagu yang dianalisis, ditemukan lima jenis tindak tutur ilokusi yaitu asertif, direktif, ekspresif, dan komisif, sedangkan tindak tutur deklaratif tidak ditemukan dalam album ini. Tindak tutur asertif, ekspresif, dan direktif merupakan jenis yang paling dominan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa tindak tutur ekspresif dan direktif berperan sebagai strategi penegasan diri yang direpresentasikan melalui dimensi emotional assertiveness (keberanian mengungkapkan perasaan secara jujur) dan social assertiveness (keberanian menyampaikan pendapat dan menetapkan batasan). Penggunaan tindak tutur tersebut memungkinkan penulis lirik untuk menegaskan identitas, mempertahankan harga diri, serta mengontrol dinamika hubungan interpersonal dalam konteks budaya populer.
This research aims to identify the types of illocutionary speech acts in the song lyrics of Sabrina Carpenter's album, "Man’s Best Friend," and to explain how expressive and directive speech acts function as assertiveness strategies. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The data were analyzed using John R. Searle’s theory of illocutionary speech acts and Yoshinaga and Cooper’s framework of assertiveness. The results indicate that among the twelve songs analyzed, four types of illocutionary acts were found: assertive, directive, expressive, and commissive, while declarative acts were not present in this album. Assertive, expressive, and directive acts emerged as the most dominant types. The study concludes that expressive and directive acts serve as assertiveness strategies represented through the dimensions of (the courage to express feelings honestly) and (the courage to voice opinions and set boundaries). The use of these speech acts allows the songwriter to affirm identity, maintain self-esteem, and control the dynamics of interpersonal relationships within a popular culture context.
