Abstract
This study responds to workplace demand for technically competent, polite, and disciplined vocational school graduates. It examined the separate and simultaneous relationships of politeness and discipline with students’ work readiness at Integrated Islamic Vocational Schools in Babelan District, Bekasi Regency.
A quantitative correlational design was applied. The population comprised 595 students in Grades X, XI, and XII during the 2025/2026 academic year. Using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error, 239 students were selected through proportional random sampling. Data were gathered using Likert scale questionnaires and analyzed with Pearson correlation, multiple correlation, simple linear regression, and multiple regression in SPSS version 27.
Results revealed a positive and significant relationship between politeness and work readiness, with a correlation coefficient of 0.620 and a contribution of 38.4%. Discipline also showed a positive and significant relationship with work readiness, with a coefficient of 0.556 and a contribution of 30.9%.
Simultaneously, both variables produced a multiple correlation coefficient of 0.704, an F value of 115.818, significance below 0.001, and a contribution of 49.5%. These findings indicate that work readiness is associated with students’ ability to maintain social relationships and manage themselves. Therefore, character development should accompany vocational learning and career preparation consistently.
