Abstract
This research is motivated by the low level of teacher leadership competence in Indonesia, as indicated by the national Teacher Competency Test (UKG) scores falling below the target, as well as the fact that approximately 36% of public schools operate without a formal principal. This condition is further exacerbated by the issuance of Ministerial Regulation No. 7 of 2025, which demands a stronger role for teacher leadership. Two internal factors are presumed to play a central role in this context: Growth Mindset and Readiness for Change. This study employs a quantitative correlational approach. The sample consisted of 274 teachers drawn from a population of 800 teachers in the Serang Baru and Cibarusah Districts, determined using the Slovin formula and simple random sampling. The Likert-scale questionnaire instrument was tested and proven to be valid and reliable (α > 0.83). Data analysis included descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, as well as simple and multiple linear regression.
The results show that Growth Mindset and Readiness for Change each have a positive and significant relationship with teacher leadership competence. Simultaneously, both variables also exhibit a positive and significant relationship, as evidenced by the regression equation:
Y = 68.395 + 0.390X₁ + 0.213X₂ + e. This equation indicates that every one-unit increase in Growth Mindset is associated with a 0.390-unit increase in leadership competence, while every one-unit increase in Readiness for Change is associated with a 0.213-unit increase. Growth Mindset proved to be more dominant compared to Readiness for Change. This study confirms the crucial role of internal psychological factors and adaptive readiness in the development of teacher leadership, with implications for strengthening training programs and educational policies.
