Abstract
This study aims to analyze the concept of ethics and learning methods in the book Ta‘lim al-Muta‘allim by Imam al-Zarnuji and its relevance in strengthening character education. This research is motivated by the importance of character building
for students amidst modern education, which tends to emphasize cognitive aspects more than the cultivation of moral values. The research method used is library research
with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained from primary sources in the form of the book Ta‘lim al-Muta‘allim and secondary sources such as books,
journals, and relevant previous studies. Data analysis techniques were carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.
The results of the study indicate that the concept of learning ethics in the book Ta‘lim al-Muta‘allim emphasizes the importance of sincere intention, respect for teachers, appreciation of knowledge, and humility (tawadhu). Meanwhile, the recommended learning methods include diligence, consistency in learning, time management, repetition, and reliance on God (tawakal). These findings show that the values contained in this book are not only theoretically relevant but also have practical contributions in shaping students who are disciplined, responsible, respectful, and of noble character. Thus, the book Ta‘lim al-Muta‘allim can serve as a conceptual foundation in strengthening character education in the modern era.
