Understanding mathematical concepts is the ability to apply and understand mathematical ideas that have been learned in everyday life situations. However, the understanding of mathematical concepts is still classified as low, which is caused by teacher-centred learning and less student involvement. Therefore, an innovative learning model is needed that is able to increase the understanding of mathematical concepts, namely the Student Achievement Division (STAD) model and the Team Assisted Individualisation (TAI) model. This research aims to find out how to understand mathematical concepts with the STAD model in SDN Bojong Rawalumbu VI, to find out how to understand mathematical concepts with the TAI model in SDN Bojong Rawalumbu VI, to find out the difference between the understanding of mathematical concepts from the STAD model and the TAI model in SDN Bojong Rawalumbu VI.
The research method used is a quantitative approach with a Quasy Experimental Design type Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample technique in this study is the Simple Random Sampling technique. The research sample consists of two classes, namely class III B as experimental class I which uses the STAD model and class III C as experimental class II which uses the TAI model. Data collection is done through description questions, which are given before (pre-test) and after (post-test) treatment. Data analysis was carried out through a hypothesis test using the Independent Sample t-Test.
The results of the hypothesis test show a significance value of 0.004 > 0.05, which means that there is a significant difference in influence between the two learning models. The conclusion of this study is that the Student Achievement Division model can affect students' understanding of mathematical concepts, so that it can be used as an innovative learning alternative to improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts. The research results show that there is a difference in understanding of mathematical concepts from the STAD model and the TAI model in SDN Bojong Rawalumbu VI in both classes. The average score of experimental class I increased from 67.00 to 90.28, while experimental class II from 72.76 to 85.44.
