Abstract
Emotion regulation is the ability to manage and express emotions adaptively and may be influenced by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and anxiety. This study examined the relationship and effect of ACEs and anxiety on emotion regulation among 196 Generation Z students in Bekasi City using a quantitative correlational design and purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Emotion Regulation Scale, ACE Scale, and Anxiety Scale, and analyzed with Spearman Rank correlation and multiple linear regression. The findings showed significant negative relationships between ACEs and emotion regulation (r = -0.176; p = 0.013) and between anxiety and emotion regulation (r = -0.274; p < 0.001). ACEs and anxiety also significantly predicted emotion regulation (F = 15.190; p < 0.001; R² = 0.136). Higher levels of ACEs and anxiety were associated with lower emotion regulation among Generation Z in Bekasi City.
