Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the use of methods in increasing productivity
in PT KMI. Through this study, the production of Frame Comp LX 150 frame in the
Welding section is evaluated. This study aims to analyze actual working time and
determine standard time using the Time Study method to increase productivity in this
section. This study uses a quantitative approach with direct observation techniques and
work time measurement which was carried out 30 observations. The results showed
that the average time to produce one unit of the Frame Comp LX 150 frame was 11
minutes longer than the company's standard time of 7.6 minutes and the standard time
of the research results was 12 minutes slower than the company's 7.6 minutes.
Furthermore, based on the results of different standard times, the labor productivity
set by the company with different research results is 14% for the company and 22% for
the research results, so that the productivity obtained by the researcher is greater than
that set by the company. Thus, this study concludes that the use of the Time Study
method shows that the time allowance in the company's time standard has not been
maximized as seen from the results of research observations 30 times. The use of time
and productivity standards can also help companies in identifying and solving
problems that exist in various aspects of the company.
