Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of good corporate governance on
company financial performance, with company size and leverage as control variables.
The research method used in this study is quantitative. The data used is secondary
data. The population in this study consists of financial sector companies listed on the
Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2021 to 2023. The sampling technique used in
this study is purposive sampling, which is the selection of samples based on specific
criteria from the required population. Data collection was done by gathering and
analyzing audited financial reports and annual reports of the companies, which were
obtained through the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) website. The collected data
was then processed using SPSS 23 software. Based on the results of statistical tests,
the variables of institutional ownership, independent board of commissioners, audit
committee, and company size have no significant effect. The leverage variable has a
negative effect on company financial performance.
Future research is recommended to increase the sample size by including different
industries and adding more independent or control variables.
