Abstract

In the modern era, electricity has become a crucial component in supporting various sectors, spurring economic growth and improving social welfare. However, the increasing demand for energy requires effective measures to manage electricity consumption in a sustainable manner. This research aims to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based electrical energy usage monitoring and control system. This system allows real-time monitoring and control of electricity loads through the Telegram application on smartphones. With IoT technology, electricity usage data is collected, analyzed, and directly accessible to users, enabling identification of usage patterns and taking actions to reduce electricity costs. This study involves designing a system integrating NodeMCU ESP8266, PZEM-004T sensor, and relay module, which is tested to ensure optimal performance. The highest energy consumption monitoring results occurred at 18.00 - 22.00 WIB, with an average hourly energy consumption of 0.50 kWh. Meanwhile, the lowest energy consumption occurs at the time of 07.00 - 11.00 WIB, with an average hourly energy consumption of 0.11 kWh. The results of the developed system show improved efficiency in electrical energy management.
