Abstract

The convenience in this online gambling game makes the players always want to
play it and will be willing to do anything from borrowing money from the closest
people or making large online loans, to selling and pawning valuable items they
have. The problem of dependence on gambling is dangerous for psychological and
physical health. The consequences of gambling can lead to feelings of hopelessness
and helplessness. Gambling disorder or compulsive gambling is an uncontrollable
desire to continue gambling regardless of the consequences for their lives. A person
who is addicted to online gambling spends a lot of money which makes them
ambitious to keep winning. This study aims to find out how gamblers interpret the
experience of gambling and to find out how gamblers communicate with people
around them. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through a
phenomenonological approach. The results of this study indicate that online
gamblers interpret the gambling experience as a hobby, fun to fill their free time,
do not need a lot of capital but the winnings are multiplied. The communication
patterns used to communicate with people around are primary, secondary, and
circular communication patterns.
