Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the Islamic religious knowledge of students at Tambun Selatan State High School 3 and their religious observance. This study employs a quantitative approach focused on correlation. Tests, questionnaires, and documentation were used as data collection methods. Students in grades 10 through 12 were the subjects of the study. Proportional stratified random sampling was used to select a sample of 104 students. Data analysis included the Pearson product-moment correlation, the coefficient of determination, and the significance of the partial correlation coefficient.
The findings indicate that there is a relationship between students’ knowledge of Islam and their religious observance. This is evidenced by a Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient of 0.099. The strength of the relationship between the two variables is classified as very low. This result is evident from the coefficient of determination, which indicates that the relationship accounts for 0.98% of the variation; the remaining 99.02% is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. The level of significance can be seen from the t-calculated value, which is 1.007. This value is lower than the t-table value, meaning that knowledge of Islam is not statistically significant in influencing students’ religious observance. Therefore, it can be concluded that knowledge of Islam has a positive relationship—albeit a weak one—and is not strongly significant in relation to students’ religious observance at Tambun Selatan State High School 3.
