Abstract

ABSTRACT

The emergence of a second account is a form of self-disclosure undertaken by users due to limitations in expressing thoughts and feelings when using a primary account. This study aims to determine the influence of interpersonal trust and intimate friendship on self-disclosure among college students using a second Instagram account.
This study used quantitative methods. 130 respondents participated in the study. The reliability results for the self-disclosure scale were .982, the interpersonal trust scale was .949, and the intimate friendship scale was .951.
Spearman rank correlation test results between interpersonal trust and self- disclosure (r=.662, sig. 0.000), and intimate friendship and self-disclosure (r=.416, sig. 0.000). Multiple regression results revealed an influence between interpersonal trust and intimate friendship on self-disclosure (r=.693, p=.000), contributing 48.1%.

ABSTRAK

Munculnya second account merupakan bentuk self disclosure yang dilakukan oleh pengguna karena adanya batasan dalam mengungkapkan atau mengekspresikan pikiran dan perasaan ketika menggunakan akun utama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh antara interpersonal trust dan intimate friendship terhadap self disclosure pada mahasiswa pengguuna second account instagram.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini 130 responden. Hasil reliabilitas skala self disclosure .982 dan skala interpersonal trust
.949 dan skala intimate friendship .951.
Hasil uji korelasi rank spearman antara interpersonal trust dengan self disclosure r=.662, sig .0.000, intimate friendship dengan self disclosure (r=.416, sig. .0.000). Hasil uji regresi berganda menghasilkan adanya pengaruh antara interpersonal trust dan intimate friendship terhadap self disclosure r=.693; p=.000 dan menyumbang sebesar 48,1%.
