Abstract

Life satisfaction is important for college students because it affects overall quality
of life. Self-esteem and loneliness are factors that affect student life satisfaction. This study
aims to identify the effect of self-esteem and loneliness on student life satisfaction.
The research was conducted at Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi with the subjects being
all active undergraduate students with a sample of 366 people. This research design uses
quantitative with simple linear regression techniques. The data collection technique used
was Propotionate Random Sampling. The data collection method is a questionnaire
distributed online using Google Form. The research instruments used were a self-esteem
scale with a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.894, a self-esteem scale with a Cronbach's
Alpha coefficient of 0.89 and a life satisfaction scale with a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of
0.828. The data analysis technique used is using the application (SPSS 23) for Windows.
The results of the simple regression test of self-esteem on life satisfaction show t
= 7.423, p < 0.001 which means accept Ha or there is a significant positive influence
between the self-esteem variable and life satisfaction then t = -5.233, p < 0.001 which means
accept Ha or there is a significant negative influence between the loneliness variable and
life satisfaction.
