Abstract

Islamic religious education plays an importants role in shaping the character
and spiritual development of children, including those with special needs such as
intellectual disabilities. This research aims to examine the implementation of Islamic
religious education learning for children with special needs at Bekasi Jaya State Special
Needs School, specifically focusing on children with intellectual disabilities. The
research methodology employed wa qualitative, collecting data through observations
and interviews related to implementation of Islamic religious educatin at Bekasi Jaya
State Special Needs School. The findings of this research reveal that the
implementation of Islamic religious education at the school has been well executed.
The focus of the learning is on fundamental religious understanding, moral teaching,
and Quranic introduction. It was found that implementation of Islamic religious
education has a positive impact on the development of intellectual disability children,
enabling them to develop a comprehension of ethics, morals, and values through
religious teachings. Islamic religious education also contributes to shaping their
character and enhancing their religious sensibilities.however, the research also
identifies several challenges in the implementation of Islamic education, such as the
lack of adequate facilities and infrastructure, and the need to enhance the use of varied
teaching methods. By undertaking appropriate improvement measures, it is hoped that
Islamic religious education for children with intellectual disabilities at Bekasi Jaya
State Special Needs School can effectively shap their characteristics and spiritual
growth.
