Abstract
This study aims to examine interpersonal communication between coaches and futsal players in increasing motivation at PCA FA Academy. This research used a descriptive qualitative method through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis was based on five interpersonal communication indicators proposed by DeVito: openness, empathy, supportiveness, positiveness, and equality. The findings show that interpersonal communication is implemented through two-way communication, personal approaches, motivation, and opportunities for players to express their opinions. However, several barriers remain, including differences in understanding instructions, players’ lack of confidence in expressing opinions, individual differences, and psychological barriers. Effective interpersonal communication characterized by openness, empathy, supportiveness, positiveness, and equality can improve players’ comfort, self-confidence, motivation, and relationships with coaches during the futsal development process.
