Abstract

This study aims to analyze the efforts made to improve quality control in order to reduce the number of products that do not meet standards. CV GRC Telaga Sari is a manufacturer of GRC boards. The defect rate in 2024 was 5.18%, then rose again to 5.29% in 2025, exceeding the company’s acceptable limit of 5%. This situation
indicates that the production process is not yet statistically controlled. Furthermore, the quality control system in use only responds after problems occur and does not make full use of data, so the primary causes of defects have not been fully identified.
This study employs a quantitative descriptive approach using Statistical Quality Control (SQC) methods, including p-charts, histograms, check sheets, Pareto charts, and cause-and-effect diagrams. The results show that there were ten periods exceeding the control limits, indicating that the production process cannot yet be considered stable. The primary causes of defects stem from three factors: human error, machinery, and the work methods employed. Therefore, the company should enhance operator skills, tighten supervision, perform routine machine maintenance, establish clear standard operating procedures (SOP), and handle non-conforming products through rework, classification as Grade B, and sale as used materials to minimize losses and improve product quality.
