Abstract
Muhammad Nurcahyoadi, Student ID 41182911220080, “Development of Islamic Religious Education Teachers’ Pedagogical Competence in Improving the Quality of Learning at SMAN 10 Bekasi,” Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Muhammadiyah University of Indonesia-Bekasi. This study aims to describe the current state of Islamic Religious Education teachers’ pedagogical competencies, analyze the efforts made by these teachers to develop their pedagogical competencies, and explain the contribution of pedagogical competencies to improving the quality of learning at SMAN 10 Bekasi. This is a qualitative study using a descriptive approach. The research subjects consisted of the school principal and Islamic Religious Education teachers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was tested through source triangulation and methodological triangulation. The research findings indicate that the pedagogical competencies of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers at SMAN 10 Bekasi have been optimally implemented, as evidenced by the teachers’ ability to understand student characteristics, develop systematic lesson plans, apply varied teaching methods, utilize instructional media and technology, and conduct comprehensive learning assessments. The development of pedagogical competencies is carried out through participation in MGMP activities, seminars, workshops, training sessions, Teacher Professional Education, educator certification, and academic supervision conducted periodically by the principal. This development has made a positive contribution to improving the quality of learning, as evidenced by increased student engagement, motivation, and interest in learning, as well as improved student learning outcomes. Thus, the development of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers’ pedagogical competencies is a crucial factor in realizing effective, innovative, and high-quality learning at SMAN 10 Bekasi.
