Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing phenomenon of student delinquency in the school environment, such as brawls, bullying, drug abuse, and disciplinary violations. These problems are influenced by internal factors such as low self-control, as well as external factors such as environmental influences and a lack of role models from educators and families. In the context of Islamic education, the uswatun hasanah approach is seen as an effective strategy in shaping student character through role models. This study aims to: (1) identify the implementation of the uswatun hasanah approach in preventing student delinquency at SMAN 8 Bekasi City, (2) analyze the challenges faced, and (3) determine its impact on student behavior.
The method used is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included Islamic Religious Education teachers, students, and school officials. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity tests using source and technique triangulation.
The results of the study indicate that the uswatun hasanah approach is implemented through teacher role models, habituation of religious activities, and the provision of educational advice. The advice given by teachers contains an invitation to maintain morals, obey school rules, respect parents and teachers, choose good friends, and avoid behavior that can lead to juvenile delinquency so that this approach is able to increase students' moral awareness and suppress deviant behavior. However, there are obstacles such as the lack of consistency of educators, the influence of the social environment, and the minimal role of the family. In conclusion, the uswatun hasanah approach is effective in preventing student delinquency if it is implemented consistently and supported by cooperation between schools, families, and the environment.
