Abstract

ABSTRACT
Body dissatisfaction is a condition in which individuals feel dissatisfied with their body shape and appearance. Young adult women who are members of fitness centers are vulnerable to body dissatisfaction due to high levels of physical appearance comparison and low self-confidence. This study aimed to examine the relationship and influence of physical appearance comparison and self-confidence on body dissatisfaction among young adult women at Pink Lady Fitness. This study employed a quantitative correlational design. The sample consisted of 96 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test and multiple linear regression. The results showed a significant positive relationship between physical appearance comparison and body dissatisfaction (rs = 0.812; p = 0.000) and a significant negative relationship between self-confidence and body dissatisfaction (rs = - 0.629; p = 0.000). Furthermore, physical appearance comparison and self-confidence simultaneously had a significant effect on body dissatisfaction (F = 200.928; p = 0.000), contributing 80.5% to body dissatisfaction.
