Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education in shaping
students’ mentality. The background of the study is based on findings that some students
still exhibit low self-confidence and mental resilience during Islamic Religious Education
learning activities, which may hinder their optimal mental development.
This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach.
Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity
was tested using triangulation techniques by comparing information obtained from
various sources. Data processing was carried out from the initial field observations
through the complete data collection stage.
The research findings indicate that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at
SMA Negeri 1 Tambun Selatan is implemented effectively by integrating cognitive,
affective, and psychomotor aspects. The learning process is not only oriented toward
theoretical mastery but is also enriched with religious practices such as communal prayer,
Qur’an recitation, chanting of Asmaul Husna, and memorization of short verses and
prayers. The internalization of these religious values contributes to shaping students into
individuals who are faithful, of noble character, disciplined, and mentally resilient in
facing challenges. These findings affirm that PAI plays a crucial role in fostering a
positive student mentality.
