Abstract

Viking Dayak Mania Club (DMC) Bekasi is a supporter community of Persib Bandung located in an area dominated by The Jakmania. This study aims to explore how Viking DMC Bekasi builds group cohesiveness amid geographic pressure and football rivalry. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The study applies Forsyth’s concept of the four elements of group cohesiveness. The results show that Viking DMC Bekasi’s cohesiveness is built through open communication via WhatsApp and Instagram, as well as through routine activities such as match-watching events and gatherings. Identity symbols, democratic leadership, and collective spirit also strengthen member solidarity. The findings indicate that effective communication strategies can foster a sense of safety and unity within a minority supporter community.
