Abstract
This study aims to explore the character education values from the perspective of Syekh Al-Zarnuji as outlined in Ta'lim Wal Muta'allim and to analyze its relevance to Islamic education in the modern era. This book provides comprehensive moral guidance for students, encompassing principles such as sincere intentions in seeking knowledge, respect for teachers, wara’ (caution), tawadhu' (humility), and perseverance. Using a qualitative approach with a literature review method, this study finds that the character values in Ta'lim Wal Muta'allim not only encourage mastery of knowledge but also foster strong morals and behavior that reflect Islamic values. These values are considered essential in addressing the moral crisis often faced by younger generations. Additionally, this study affirms that Syekh Al-Zarnuji's teachings are relevant to be integrated into character education curricula in Islamic educational institutions, helping students become knowledgeable, ethical, and morally upright individuals. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of Islamic-based character education and offer an alternative approach to moral and character formation in the context of globalization.
