Abstract

" Application of the Problem Based Learning Model in Improving the Critical
Thinking Ability of Class V Students on Al-Qur'an Hadith Material at SDN
Bantargebang III, Bekasi City"
This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out
collaboratively between researchers, observers and the object under study. The main
aim of this research is to improve critical thinking in Islamic Religious Education
subjects in class V students by applying the Problem Based Learning Model. The
objects of this research were class V students at SDN Bantargebang III consisting of
30 students. This research was carried out in the first semester of the 2024/2025
academic year. The use of the probem-based learning model was chosen as the most
appropriate model to improve students' critical thinking skills because it can increase
students' activeness in learning by discussing, giving opinions so that they can solve
the problems they face and are able to provide solutions so that students can get good
results in the assessment. done. The Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Maun is a short surah which
is very familiar to children, so it is easy to memorize which is sometimes overlooked
in learning, but the meaning contained in Surah Al-Maun cannot yet be understood
properly.
The classroom action research process was carried out in two cycles, each cycle
consisting of one meeting consisting of four main actions, namely planning,
implementing actions, observing and reflecting. At the end of each cycle, a test is
carried out using a question instrument. Then the results obtained at the first and
second meetings are averaged to become the final results of each cycle. The results of
the research showed that the average value of student learning motivation results in
the pre-cycle was 66,00 then in the first cycle it was 68,40. Meanwhile, in the
second cycle, the score was 79,80. And this learning is already active. This research
concludes that through the use of Problem Based Learning, Critical Thinking can
improve student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education subjects for class
V at SDN Bantargebang III, Bantargebang District, Bekasi City. Apart from that, the
use of the Problem Based Learning Model can improve Critical Thinking and student
activities as well as student learning outcomes.
