Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Qana'ah and Optimism with
Life Satisfaction in the unemployed. This research uses quantitative methods. The sampling
technique used in this research is non-probability sampling. The data collection method uses a
scale, namely the Life Satisfaction scale (Satisfaction With Life Scale) with 5 items, the Qana'ah
scale made by the researcher himself with 30 items, and the Optimism scale (Life Orientation TestRevised) with 10 items which only used 6 items. With a correlational design, the subjects in this
study were unemployed people in Telaga Murni Village. Data collection techniques through
interviews and the use of psychological scales. The results of the correlation test conducted are
there is a relationship between the nature of qana'ah with unemployment life satisfaction (r =
0.301, P = 0.000), there is a negative relationship between optimism and unemployment life
satisfaction (r = 0.225, p = 0.024). The nature of qana'ah and optimism contributed 22% to life
satisfaction (R^2= 0.220; F (2,097) = 13.650, p < 0.000).
