Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of underwriting, premiums and claims on the
profits of general insurance companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2019-2023
period. The research method uses quantitative descriptive. The research sample was 8 companies
using a purposive sampling method. Data analysis used multiple linear regression analysis with
Eviews 12. The results of the F-test show that the underwriting, premium and claims variables
simultaneously influence profits. The t-test results show that the underwriting and claims variables
have a significant positive effect on profits, while premiums have a significant negative effect on
profits. This effect can be predicted with the multiple regression equation: Profit =
15.32252+0.233839 Underwriting–0.626758 Premium+0.781788 Claim+e. From these results,
the contribution of underwriting, premium, and claims variables together influences profits by 63%
while the remaining 37% is influenced by other variables not used in this research.
