Abstract

Polymers are one of the materials commonly used in various modern industries. One effective method in processing polymer plastic pellets is through melting using a hot press machine. The aim of this research is to understand the design process of the hot press machine, to assess the performance of the hot press machine in melting plastic pellets, and to analyze the results. This research was conducted through several steps, including literature study, machine design, material preparation, machine assembly, machine testing, and analysis. The result of this research is the design of a hot press machine for plastic pellets with a power of 600 watts and a maximum thickness of 6 mm. This hot press machine is capable of melting and pressing plastic pellets, producing various thicknesses at a temperature of 200℃. The thickness variations of the plastic pellets are adjusted according to predetermined gram measurements.
