Abstract
This research was motivated by the environmental problems of the city of Bekasi which were poorly managed, the lack of activation of public spaces for the people of Bekasi, so that the awareness of Bekasi youth emerged in voicing these problems by creating a movement to create community groups by promoting collaboration. The purpose of this research is to determine group communication that occurs in the BangunKota community in collaboration with cooperation partners. The theory used is groupthink theory through the concept of pentahelix collaboration using descriptive qualitative research methods. The results of this research are that the BangunKota community carried out a decision-making process through three decision-making phases in determining cooperation partners for collaboration, namely by discussion with community members, representation from community members, and decision-making from the community leader. These three phases also go through three symptoms of grouthink, namely pressure on members who disagree, closed-mindedness of community members, and pressure to achieve uniformity between members. Under these pressures, members remain persistent because they have high cohesiveness towards the BangunKota community group.
