Abstract

Roleplaying is a type of role-playing game that requires players to imitate the character of their chosen idol. This research aims to see how roleplayers' characters differ when they are in the roleplay world and the real world. This research focuses on the differences in Telegram roleplayer characters with qualitative research methods and uses dramaturgy theory as an approach. The results of the research on Telegram roleplayer dramaturgy found that on the front stage, roleplayers build a good self-image and create an impression according to their wishes. This research also uses the middle stage and sees a shift between the sssfront stage and the back stage through direct messages. The real life of the roleplayer is part of the back stage. This study shows that roleplayers have different characters when in the roleplay world and in the real world.
