Abstract
ABSTRACT
The Bekasi District Health Office reported a decrease in stunting rates in 2022, but an
increase in 2023. The researcher is interested in studying the strategies of the Bekasi
District Health Office in disseminating information about stunting prevention, which
is currently 4% below target and is expected to drop to 19% by 2024-2025. This interest
arises because the President has instructed all regional heads in Indonesia to reduce
stunting rates to a maximum of 14% by 2024, with a change to 19% in 2025. The
researcher chose the Bekasi District Health Office as the study location due to its
notable reduction in stunting cases, decreasing to 17% in 2022 and targeting a further
reduction to 19% by 2024-2025. However, in 2023, the stunting rate increased to 23%.
According to Bappenas, which updated the national and provincial stunting prevalence
targets for 2025 and 2045, the new national target is 18.8%, and the target for West
Java Province is 19% by 2025. This research aims to examine the subsequent strategies
and how the Bekasi District Health Office implements stunting prevention policies,
with a focus on the impact of these strategies in achieving the target stunting rate as
directed by the President. The study uses qualitative research methods with a case
study approach, sampling techniques, and data analysis techniques. The results
indicate that the strategies employed by the Bekasi District Health Office to reduce
stunting are less effective, as 3 out of 11 indicators have not met their targets. The
research shows that information dissemination by the Health Office and Puskesmas
needs to be improved comprehensively to enhance public understanding of stunting
prevention. Greater community involvement in health programs is also crucial in
significantly reducing stunting rates, enabling them to participate in monitoring,
evaluating programs, and providing valuable feedback to healthcare providers and the
government.
