Abstract

The main problem of learning mathematics in elementary schools is the low level of students' problem solving in mathematics subjects, especially in the material of FPB and KPK story problems. This can be seen from students who have not been able to determine what is known and asked, still have difficulty in determining the formula, have not been able to solve the problem correctly, and have not been able to conclude the answer. This study aims to improve mathematics problem solving skills by using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model for fourth grade students of SDN Sukajaya 02, Bekasi Regency.
The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of 2 cycles with subjects totaling 38 students, and each cycle includes four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This data collection used collection techniques in the form of written tests. The success criteria in this study are 100% with a predetermined KKM score of 75.
Based on the results of research from each cycle, the classical percentage increase in cycle I was 66% with an average score of 71, and for cycle II it was 100% with an average score of 80. The percentage increase in problem solving ability from cycle I to cycle II increased by 34% in Mathematics class IV SDN Sukajaya 02 Bekasi Regency.
