Abstract

This research was motivated by the problem of the low mathematical
calculation skills of class V students at SDN Sukamekar 03. The problems were; 1.
Students experience problems in operating multiplication when given two-digit and
three-digit multiplication problems, 2. Students do not understand how to multiply
hundreds and thousands by using the bottom stacking method, 3. Students are not
able to place numbers correctly when working on multiplication problems by
hundreds or thousands, 4. Students are not able to solve problems in calculating
numbers correctly. In overcoming this problem, the lattice method was applied
which aims to improve the mathematical calculation skills of class V SDN
Sukamekar 03.
The research method used was Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) which
consisted of 2 cycles, with 27 students as subjects and each cycle consisted of 2
meetings. Data collection in this study used written test data collection techniques.
The criteria for success in this research is 80% with a KKM score of 75.
The results of this research show that the increase in students' numeracy
skills in each cycle is that in cycle I the classical requirements were 55% with an
average score of 75 and in the second cycle classical completion increased to 92 %
with an average value of 90. Based on these data, the lattice method can improve
class V mathematical calculation skills by 37%. Thus it can be concluded that the
lattice method can improve the mathematical calculation skills of class V SDN
Sukamekar 03.
