Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship and influence of loneliness and fear of missing out (FoMO) on the behavior of phone snubbing (phubbing). This study uses a non-experimental quantitative research design, namely a correlational research design. The research subjects were 98 class XII students at SMAN 2 Cikarang Pusat in the academic year 2022/2023. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The psychological measurement scale used is a modification of the Phubbing Scale (PS) with a reliability value of r = 0.781, A Rasch-Type Loneliness Scale with a reliability value of r = 0.861, and the Fear of Missing Out Scale (FoMOS) with a reliability value of r = 0.832 which uses Likert models. Hypothesis testing using Spearman Rank correlation and multiple linear regression analysis with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 26 for Windows. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between loneliness and phubbing of r=0,202, ρ=0,043 (ρ<0,05), there was a positive relationship between FoMO and phubbing of r=0,461, ρ=0,000 (ρ<0,05), there were significant effect of loneliness and FoMO on phubbing with a value of ρ=0.000 (ρ<0.05). The effect of loneliness and FoMO on phubbing simultaneously is 33.7%.
