Abstract
The purpose of this research is to find out how the role of the Principal in improving the professional competence of Inclusive School teachers. This research is a qualitative research, data collection method through observation and interviews at SDIT (schools that have and still receive children with special needs), while the sample is teachers who handle special children
This study is to find empirical evidence about: (1) What is the role of the principal in improving the professional competence of inclusive class teachers? (2) What are the inhibiting and supporting factors in increasing the professional competence of inclusive class teachers? (3) What is head master’s strategy to enhance professionalism competence of a teacher.
The results show that the role of the principal who accepts children with special needs (inclusion) is more challenging and plays a more role in carrying out his duties as school principal, the more inclusion of a school the more it shows the ability of the principal's role as a leader, educator and motivator. The ability of professional teachers competence is seen in educating both general and special students. The strategy of the principal in increasing the professional competence of teachers is by mastering the field of study or subject, understanding the objectives of learning for children with special needs, managing learning materials and utilizing technology and up date skill to develop themselves.
