Abstract

This study seeks to determine the application of the team assisted
individualization model in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) lessons at SMPS IT
Daarussalam. The research method used is naturalistic qualitative method, namely
research that starts from a phenomenological point of view and aims to understand
the meaning of events and their relation to the object of research. Data collection
methods in this study included observation, interviews, and documentation located at
SMPS IT Daarussalam (RT 01 RW 02 Kp. Selang Tengah, Desa Wanasari Kec.
Cibitung, 17520).
This study reveals that the subject of Islamic Religious Education (PAI)
which is carried out at SMPS IT Daarussalam uses the team assisted
individualization learning model, based on the reasons to increase student activity.
The application of PAI learning begins with 7 steps, namely: giving placement tests
to students, forming groups, studying in groups, group presentations, teaching groups
with the teacher providing guidance, posttest tests in the form of quizzes (questions),
and group awards. Learning activities using the team assisted individualization
model are in accordance with the procedure of team assisted individualization.
However, even though the team assisted individualization model has been
implemented according to the procedure, the resulting impact is not as expected,
namely not being able to make students active, but able to make students have
responsibility. Because not all subject matter can be applied using this model, this
causes the teaching and learning atmosphere to be unpleasant and some students
cannot be conditioned because they chat with their friends, so they do not get
maximum results in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) lessons at SMPS IT
Daarussalam.
