Abstract

Film is a medium for conveying messages to a wide audience through one of the mass media instruments. The message conveyed varies according to the film produced. Recreative, educative, persuasive or non-informative is a description of the message in a film. Film in the context of mass media is not only interpreted as a work of art. This study represents the profile of journalists on Venom in the perspective of a journalistic code of ethics. Venom film is a series from the United States of America with the perspective of a journalistic code of ethics that is used is a code of ethics that covers nationally. The focus of this research is to represent the journalistic side of Tom Hardy (Eddie Brock “Venom”) as a depiction of journalists attached to society. This study uses qualitative research methods with Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic analysis approach. This study uses several relevant theories, namely journalistic theory, Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotics, film, representation and journalistic code of ethics. Data collection techniques were carried out using literature studies and documentation studies. The results of this study indicate that 13 scenes, pictures and signs were found which convey the meaning that as a description of journalists attached to society, that journalists are always right and the audience is invited to understand that every journalist often makes mistakes when carrying out their profession. The conflicts experienced by each journalist are different and violate the rules of the journalistic code of ethics
