Abstract
The world's energy needs will increase in the coming years, while the
available energy sources are dwindling, especially energy sources that come from
fossils. Therefore, new renewable energy is energy that will not run out if used
continuously, which is increasingly being intensified. development. Renewable
energy is an alternative, especially wind power plants. The purpose of this study is
to make a wind turbine model combined with the Giromill and Savonius types, to
find out the electric current generated at the rotating speed of the different Giromill
and Savonius type combination wind turbine models, to determine the turbine
power of the Giromill and Savonius combined wind turbine models using different
wind speeds. different, knowing the level of efficiency of a wind turbine type
combination of gyromill and savonius wind turbines.
This combination wind turbine model of the Giromill and Savonius types is
a combination of two types of vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) wind turbines
that are designed to be one. The giromill type wind turbine has a height of 80 cm
and a diameter of 80 cm with NACA 0024 and a chord of 20 cm and a Savonius
wind turbine with a height of 60 cm and a diameter of 40 cm with variations in the
shape of semicircular blades with a diameter of 22 cm. In this study using a ballast
load in pairs. The research was conducted in the yard of the house and used natural
wind and a fanblower.
The results showed that the combination wind turbine model of the Giromill
and Savonius type with a Savonius blade diameter of 22 cm and a blade span of 22
cm at an average wind speed of 5.3 m/s produces a maximum rotational speed of
52 rpm at no-load conditions and performance when given the best loading with an
efficiency of 10.92% and produces a turbine power of 5.6085 watts and a torque of
1.0306 N.m.
