Abstract

I present my research about an analysis of translation shift on the translation from English to the Indonesian subtitle in the movie Soul (2020). This research is purposed to examine the process of transaltion shift on the translation from English to Indonesian subtitle in the movie Soul. The qualitative method is a method used to investigate my research. Formal equivalence is the most of the message equivalence kind in the translation from English to Indonesian subtitle in the movie Soul. The alteration is the most of the translation shift in the translation from English to Indonesian subtitle in the movie Soul. It is because there are many words or sentences
having an alteration of meaning by the context adjustment in this movie. But, the message of Target Language (TL) is still equivalence with the message of Source Language (SL).
