Abstract

Princess’s narrative knows as story about princess who is married to the prince charming and happily-ever-after. However, I found a different princess narrative in Spencer movie. This movie is about princess that unhappily-ever-after that means the character doesn’t live happily. This paper aims to describe the unhappily-ever-after narrative and the discourse constructed by using narrative structure analysis. This research uses qualitative method with narrative approach, observation, and to map various signs that showed in the movie. The result of this research shows princess narrative that constructed is unhappily-ever-after. The discourse is not only unhappily-ever-after, but power and surveillance discourse also showed in Princess Diana’s relation with royal family and media.
