This study was motivated by the importance of teaching children to read and write the Qur’an from an early age as the foundation for developing their Qur’anic literacy skills and religious character. One of the methods used in this learning process is the Al-Barqy method, which is known for presenting material in a systematic, practical, and easy-to-understand manner for children. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Al-Barqy method in teaching children to read and write the Qur’an and to determine the learning outcomes after the method was applied at RA Al Nurul Huda in East Bekasi.
This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects included the RA principal, teachers responsible for the Al-Barqy method, students, and parents of students as supporting informants. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis utilized the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, which includes data condensation, data presentation, and the drawing and verification of conclusions. Data validity was achieved through source triangulation and methodological triangulation.
The results of the study show that the implementation of the Al-Barqy method at TK Nurul Huda in East Bekasi was carried out in a planned, systematic, and gradual manner, beginning with the introduction of the hija<’iyyah alphabet, reading syllables, simple reading, and progressing to writing practice of the Hija<’iyyah alphabet. Instruction was conducted through a traditional classroom approach and individualized instruction using drill methods tailored to the characteristics of early childhood learners. The research results indicate that the Al-Barqy method is effective in improving students’ ability to recognize the hija<’iyyah alphabet, read the Qur’an at a basic level, and write the hija<’iyyah alphabet in accordance with the children’s developmental stages. The successful implementation of this method is supported by teacher competence, the systematic and practical nature of the Al-Barqy method, as well as support from the school and parents. The challenges identified included differences in students’ abilities and limited instructional time.
